Traditional scientific research is inflexible, solidified in rigid and outdated processes that are exclusionary to researchers and ideas that may not be able to access these spaces due to economic, social, or cultural barriers within academia.
Project Description
DeSciWorld serves to connect research communities to decentralized technologies with the intention of fostering innovative new models for research processes that center community engagement, incentivized participation, and accessible infrastructures. The project is built by contributors from the research, design, business, and creative industries. DeSciWorld leverages blockchain solutions such as decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), smart contracts, and cryptocurrencies to address challenges researchers face in funding and publicizing their work.
A key goal of the project is to help organize the nascent DeSci community as a resource-focused starting point into the DeSci space. DeSciWorld offers a “free-to-use” dashboard and informational hub that aggregates information about decentralized science projects. Researchers, academics, VCs, and others can learn about existing DeSci projects or find potential collaborators, resources, and network connections. DeSci projects list and display information about their work, and may mint NFTs through DeSciWorld to help support and grow engagement with their projects. The platform also offers grant funding mechanisms, designed to connect researchers, scientists, and experts to decentralized funding channels and research outsourcing tools where community members may offer research services to projects seeking research task labor.

Progress to date
DeSciWorld’s project roadmap has not been updated since Q1 2023, but between that time and Q2 2022 the project launched their Dashboard, NFT marketplace, DAO and P2P funding marketplace.
